Something monstrous is prowling in the waters of Lake Despondent.
Something so fearsome it can turn human flesh into stone.
Something so hideous you might just want to pack an extra pair of undies or some top-quality detergent.
But, do not fear, our three Urban Legend Hunters are here.
Okay, you might still want to fear a little bit. Why?
Well, they’re not great.
But they do make a good effort.
Join Samantha Small, Bad Boris and Jeremy Jubaya in a bone-chilling, pulse-racing, skin-prickling mysterious adventure.
Our trio of Urban Legend Hunters are at it again!
This time they are seeking out the hideous Mrs Mortimer, who resides at Lake Despondent and turns those she meets into stone.
Our trio have no fear - well, actually, Bad Boris is huge but he is really quite a scaredy cat. Samantha Small is small by name only and she now possesses the ability to turn into a fox, and the clever Jeremy Jubaya will always face danger using his scientific brain to overcome obstacles.
During a weekend visit to Boris’s Auntie Prue's beautiful lakeside mansion, they discover that they are in fact at Lake Despondent - and not at Lake Resplendent, as Auntie Prue believes.
Can they find out if this urban legend is true, and, if so, defeat the evil Mrs Mortimer?
This is the second book in a terrific Australian series. It is full of silliness but friendship, trust, and the will to tackle evil with both science and bravery, are at the forefront of each story. It can be read independently of the previous story, although fans are sure to enjoy this story too, and there will be more to follow. Best suited to readers in middle and upper primary levels.
