Review
I can’t manage to watch a horror movie, but give me a good horror story and I get hooked! This Stays Between Us is an Australian horror story that is sure to excite the many passionate readers of this genre.
The setting is the Year 11 school retreat, at the same camp in the same abandoned town that St Augustine’s have been going to forever. What happens on retreat stays on retreat, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours of hauntings by the legendary Smiling Jack reaching the other year levels...
Our four main characters are sharing a cabin. Shelley has just arrived at the school, and is trying to escape the horrible events that lead up to her needing a new start. The other three are best friends - or they were until Mack kissed Raffi, who has a boyfriend, and now they are not speaking. And Priya would prefer to spend real time at her boyfriend’s cabin so they can take the next step.
When they decided to hold a séance, trying to draw in sprits, they could not possibly know the evil they were about to face. Can they survive a night with a monster?
This is terrific Australian YA horror story with themes of trust, friendship, betrayal, sexuality, fear and murder that will have readers on the edge of their seats. Best suited to readers 15 and older.
