Review
In Fathach everyone fears giants. They are dangerous and brutish and have no feelings - or so everyone is told. The only thing they are good for is using their bones to build the city and its walls.
Jacq is twelve and her parents are both legendary giant hunters. Jacq doesn’t want to be a hunter, she is much more interested in finding out how things work. When she gets lost in the forest outside the city walls, she is saved by a young giant called Corman.
Corman is nothing like what she has been told, he is kind and gentle and desperately trying to get back home to help his sister. Jacq wants to get back to her home too, and maybe the only way to do this is if they help each other. Can two strangers, who have been told all their lives to fear the other, really learn to trust and become friends?
This is a fantastic fantasy adventure that shows you should never judge a person by their looks, and you should always trust your own instincts. Jacq and Corman are wonderful characters, and the story is fast-paced. I read this in one sitting as it’s very hard to put down. Perfect for all middle grade readers.
