Sure, they're going to save the world and all that stuff, but there are a few fun things they want to do first. Then they realise other people are looking for the stone. People who will stop at nothing to get it ...

As the stakes get higher, secrets are kept, loyalties are questioned, and promises are broken. How much are Olive and her friends willing to risk to make all their dreams come true?

Sometimes funny, sometimes scary, always gripping, this is an endearing story of friendship, family and navigating your way in the world.

Review

Our main character is 13-year-old Olive, who wishes that the frogs would come alive so that she would not have to dissect them in biology. Be careful what you wish for Olive!

Olive was holding onto a beautiful stone that she found in a cave when she made the wish and, it turns out, the stone has the power to grant wishes.

Together with her friends, Lola and Theo, they discover that the wish only lasts for a week and then stops. So they devise a plan to share the wishes - with nothing too world changing being wished for until they can be sure that there are no consequences.

But when Olive’s grandma, GK, gets diagnosed with cancer Olive decides that she must save her. Is this the right thing to do?

Filled with baddies trying to gain control of the powerful stone, and nemesis turned friends, this is a great middle grade novel. It contains magic, friendship, family struggles and choosing the path of right over wrong that make it ideal for readers aged 10 to 14 years.
