Sixteen-year-old Ivy’s overbearing parents are leaving her home alone for five days. Other than school, Ivy plans to spend most of the time with her best friend Henry watching H-Mad (hot, magical and deadly) - their favorite show on TV. Ivy writes her own fanfiction based on the characters and writes herself into the story romantically.
Unfortunately, Ivy's ex-best friend Mack lives across the street and her family have been charged with keeping an eye on Ivy. But since their bust up Ivy doesn’t want anything to do with Mack.
Waking up after a terrible storm on the first morning Ivy finds herself in bed with Weston, the gorgeous star ofH-Mad. Surely she is dreaming?
What follows is the next four days where this too-perfect version of Weston, who now exists with the sole aim of making Ivy’s life better, living out the four different scenarios that Ivy had written in her fanfic. Will they be able to get him to disappear before her parents come home?
Written with lots of angst and longing without actual sex scenes, this is a perfect teenage romcom. Sophie has written great characters, and an unbelievable but extremely humorous storyline that explores the question of what place fanfiction plays in people’s lives, whilst also poking some fun at the more ludicrous parts of this genre.
The relationship between the three main characters Ivy, Mack and Henry was the highlight but I refuse to say whether true love was found in the end. You must read it for yourself! Perfect for romcom fans, particularly those aged 13 to 16.
