This magical tale is a collaboration from two wonderful Australian authors, Kate Gordon and Helen Edwards. Prepare yourself for all of the wonder of the circus !
Emme and Ivy are two girls who are independently drawn to the magical world of The Disappearing Circus - drawn by grief, and hope. But when they arrive the Ringmistress believes that they are the hope that will reinvigorate the circus and bring the people back. The Ringmistress hopes that they can bring back the magic, so that she can call back her daughter who died many years ago on the highwire. She has already been able to reanimate long-gone magical creatures like the gryphon, and even a unicorn and a dragon, but to bring back her daughter may be too much...
Emme and Ivy are unsure if they have the talent required to achieve anything like what the Ringmistress hopes for. But when they find their courage to perform, we discover that anything can be achieved with memories, love, and especially hope.
This is a whimsical story that enchants the reader from the outset, and with themes of friendship, family, grief, hope, and the courage to become the hero of your own story, it is a terrific read for those aged from 10 to 14 years.
