THE BREAKUP ARTISTS is a funny and playful romance perfect for fans of Jenny Han's The Summer I Turned Pretty and The Kissing Booth.
When it's your job to break-up bad relationships, there's only one rule. DON'T fall in love.
Best friends August and Valentine have an unusual summer job. They are hired by parents to break up bad high school relationships.
Valentine (the brains of the operation) believes that they're making the world a little better, steering relationships off a cliff so the kids can someday find true love.
August doesn't believe in soul mates. In fact, he thinks the idea of falling head over heels is ridiculous. That is until he meets the one girl who changes everything - Ella.
The only problem is, she's their new case. So of course, everything he's told her is a lie...even his name.
August and Valentine are next door neighbours and have been friends forever. They have a business called Summer Love Inc where parents hire them to break up bad relationships. They have strict rules about which jobs they will take and so far everything has gone well. They always use fake names and identities so no one knows who they really are.
Valentine thinks everyone deserves to find their true love and that helping to break up a bad relationship gives them this chance, while August doesn’t believe in true love at all, especially after his sister died and he blames her boyfriend for her death. But their latest job maybe about to change all that, as August starts to fall for Ella ... who he is supposed to be convincing to break up with her manipulative boyfriend Justin.
Valentine and August’s number one rule is don’t fall in love when you’re working. How are they ever going to get out of this mess without hurting themselves and Ella?
This is a great story about friendships, love and grief and written in such a way that it’s really hard to put this book down. I read the whole book in one afternoon! I loved August and Valentine, and their friendship is truly beautiful and uplifting. A perfect story for all those who love romance, with a great underlying story and some laughs as well. Will suit those 15 years and up.
