Review

Chinese-American Winter Young is already a world-famous pop star at 19. But since his brother’s death, and his mother’s refusal to really connect with him, he feels like his life lacks purpose.

Sydney Cossette is also 19 and an experienced spy, working for the undercover Panacea corporation, the place governments go when they want jobs done that they can’t risk doing themselves. Sydney has been given a mission that she feels is sure to fail - working with the inexperienced Winter.

Winter accepted the mission after he learned that his brother worked and died for Panacea.

The mission is to discover the shipping schedule for a deadly new chemical weapon that a billionaire shipping magnate is moving. The billionaire’s daughter is a massive Winter fan, and he is to be invited to perform at her forthcoming week long birthday celebrations.

Surprisingly, we discover that Winter can handle himself remarkably well, and as they get further into the mission respect, understanding and maybe even love develops…

Of course, not everything goes to plan, they are terribly injured and nearly killed on numerous occasions during this deadly mission. But they are both committed to seeing it through to the end, whatever the risk.

Full of a built-up romantic tension, a thrilling adventure and daring bravery this book is ideal for readers aged 12 to 16 years. I really enjoyed the plot and characters, and, even though at times it all seemed a little far-fetched, I will still be keen to read any sequels!
