Fans of Bad Guys will love this cinematically-illustrated story of a power-hungry shark trying to take over the world, with the help of his trusty sidekick, Blowfish.
Sharkman is the boss of Sharkman Empire. He has everything: a driver, a chef, a chief scientist, an inventor to create his every whim. Okay, all of those jobs are actually performed by his best friend Blowfish. But Sharkman does have a lot things. What he doesn't have is world domination. That could all change as soon as he has a plan--or Blowfish does.
Blowfish attended Kraken Elementary School, but school life didn't start out very easy for him, given his shape and size. Blowfish had always been obsessed with sharks, so when Sharkman showed up at school as the new kid, they became best friends.
But these two friends have came from very different backgrounds. Sharkman comes from a very wealthy family, and has dreams of world domination. Blowfish was separated at birth from his family, so he never experienced the privileges that Sharkman has.
They remain best friends through adulthood, as they embark on Sharkman's plan to control the world. Blowfish is extremely intelligent and comes up with all sorts of wonderful inventions. He does everything for Sharkman, including being his chauffeur and chef, and even though Sharkman takes him for granted, Blowfish loves being able to show off his talents.
Can these two navigate the power imbalance that plays out in their unusual friendship, and realise that they need each other? And will Sharkman finally show some appreciation for all that Blowfish does for him?
This novel is heavily illustrated and the illustrations are stunning. It is full of science and experiments, and our two unlikely friends, and it will have great appeal to those in middle primary and above, and is a great book for more reluctant readers.
