The second book in the series about lucky Neeka Wilder - who lives at a zoo!
Eleven-year-old Neeka Wilder has always loved animals and is lucky enough to live at Wilder Zoo, where her mum is head vet.
The deadline for the school reading challenge is only a few days away and Neeka has a lot of reading to do.
Then a wild storm hits. Emergency evacuation plans are put in place and even Neeka's bedroom turns into an animal nursery. But when the rain stops and the clean-up begins, focusing on reading becomes Neeka's biggest challenge.
This is a tremendous second book in the Wilder Zoo series, with a terrific new story that is full of adventure.
Living at Wilder Zoo makes life for eleven-year-old Neeka Wilder always exciting, as she dreams of one day working full time with animals. But it can also be a distraction!
Her school has a chance of winning the netball championship, but they desperately need new equipment. This means they must all read and complete their book reports so that they can win the reading challenge - where the prize is the much-needed netball gear.
But when a storm hits and flooding wreaks havoc on the zoo, Neeka feels like the animals’ needs are too great, and she keeps putting off her reading. Can she possibly find the time to get it finished by Monday’s deadline?
This is a great book demonstrating how friends working together can achieve wonderful outcomes. It has terrific and empathetic teachers, parents and role models that is uplifting and important in books for this age group. Challenges appear often, but it is how they are handled that make this a great series for readers aged from 8 to 11 years.
