All across California, deadly wildfires rage ... Still reeling from the life-changing challenges that propelled him and his mother across the country, Josh finds solace in the California wilderness and in the newfound friendship with his cousin Holly. Josh has a good life in New Jersey. He has a great house and family and friends, and enjoys playing basketball with his friends. But when a scandal erupts at his Dad’s work, his Mum decides to take him away from it all for a holiday.
They go to visit a cousin, Nicole, who is more like his Mum’s age, and her daughter Holly. They live off the grid in a forest in California, running a reptile shelter. He gets on well with Holly and meets some local firefighters, not knowing then that in a few days he and Holly will be the ones needing rescuing...
