Eleanor Jones stirs up more mystery and danger in this fast-paced YA mystery.
Things have settled down in Cooinda and Eleanor Jones is getting used to her new normal - spending time with her friends, going to school, and working on a project at the local old age home. But just as things start to feel calm, a series of events once again rock Eleanor's world - Troy's ex-girlfriend is back in town and, during a visit to the old age home, Eleanor's buddy Nance admits to witnessing a murder, swearing Eleanor to secrecy.
In an effort to definitely not be concerned about Troy's ex, Eleanor throws herself into solving the mystery of the murder Nance spoke about. Enlisting the help of new friend and genealogy expert Jem to research Nance's past, Eleanor soon realises that digging into old secrets can sometimes be incredibly dangerous indeed.
Eleanor and her friends are enjoying school and a quiet life around Cooinda. They are visiting the aged care home for a school project and Eleanor gets matched up with Nance who has lived in Cooinda her whole life.
One day Nance tells Eleanor that she witnessed a murder years ago, and there was so much blood but she was sworn to secrecy. Eleanor is not sure if the story is true, or just more of Nance’s ramblings.
But Eleanor can’t help herself and soon starts asking questions around town and at the local library. Her friends aren’t sure it’s a good idea and a few people in town aren’t too happy about her bringing up the past either. Maybe there is some truth to Nance’s story after all...
This is the second novel featuring Eleanor Jones but it can be easily read as a stand-alone as I haven’t read the first one.
I loved this book, and Eleanor and her friends are all great characters and very relatable. The story moves along at a great pace and has lots of twists and turns to ensure that anyone who loves a good mystery will thoroughly enjoy this story! Perfect for all aged 14 years and up.
