Review

Matilda lives in Canberra. Her Dad works for the Prime Minister and so her family often attend events at the many embassies located in Canberra.

Matilda is excited, but also sad, about the festival that they are going to attend at the Japanese Embassy, where her friend from school, Hansuke, lives. Matilda loves the taiko drumming, the food and the origami, but she also has to say goodbye to Hansuke, who is returning to Japan.

This is a wonderful story for younger readers that highlights our capital city, Canberra, the value of friendships, both old and new, and that saying goodbye doesn't always have to be permanent!
