Charlie is a real country knock-about sort of kid who ‘borrows’ three dollars
from his Mum’s housekeeping jar on the same day Dad brings home a dingo
pup. Mum is not pleased! They knew she wanted a cat.
The pup, who Charlie names Spike, causes no end of trouble and is
constantly close to being banned by Mum.
Charlie’s Aunt & Uncle run an annual Camel carnival, that brings in lots of
visitors, including some unwanted ones. Spike grabs a bag from two of the
visitors, and when Charlie is about to hand it back, some of the contents fall
out, including items from recent break-ins. Spike and Charlie become
instant heroes.
There is lots of poo, vomit and other rather disgusting dialogue throughout
the story which is sure to endear it to middle year and upper primary boys.
